Higher education institutions and representatives of technical spaces around the world will be invited into HEI MAKERS closing conference, scheduled September 2019.
Events
HEI MAKERS kick-off meeting
HEI MAKERS team is kick starting the project with a consortium meeting hosted by Sunrise Valley Science and Technology Park (Lithuania). Partners will present their organisations, discuss project tasks and the best ways to implement them. A visit to Linkmenų fabrikas at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is planned for the partners from Latvia, Romania, and the UK. The meeting is restricted to project partners only, but if you are interested in the HEI MAKERS activities or meeting some of the partners in person – drop us a line @ info@heimakers.eu
HEI MAKERS consortium meeting #2
This time INVENTYA is hosting the HEI MAKERS project meeting, aimed to discuss the progress made in half a year and decide on further steps. One of the key elements of the meeting is to finalise the guidelines on how higher education institutions should increase the scope of collaboration with maker spaces, and make their study programmes more engaging, more relevant, more wanted by students. A special guest from Liverpool John Moores University will present student accelerator „Idealab“ and the partners will try to knock on the doors of Makers Quarters in Manchester.
Vilnius Mini Maker Faire 2018
Join us on Vilnius Mini Maker Faire 2018! On the 25th of May, Education Forum organised in cooperation with Barclays will present educational initiatives for makers and the Micro:hackaton will take place. The 26th of May is the grand day with exhibition of makers‘ inventions in robotics, electronics, engineering, biology, art and crafts. Inteactive workshops for the whole family, lectures, Micro:hackaton and competition awards are awaiting you!
HEI MAKERS consortium meeting #3
Riga Technical University is hosting the next progress meeting of HEI MAKERS project. Partners will discuss training modules and generate ideas on how to organise an exciting summer school for students, where higher education and maker space work together to bring valuable skills and competences. Riga Technical University will demonstrate its maker space and share experience on implementing projects together with the university. Are you in Riga on October 19? Join us!
Multiplier event in Latvia – “Technical creative workshop”
On March 21, 2019 in Riga Technical University took place the first HEI MAKERS project multiplier event “Technical creative workshop”. Main goal of the event was to introduce students from different higher educational institutions with the opportunity to use makerspace in education process as well as test innovative education methods and content. During the event, the participants learned new things, created and tested prototypes, communicated and spent their time in a creative interdisciplinary atmosphere!
Makerspace: your new classroom
Ludor Engineering is organizing the “Makerspace: your new classroom” multiplier event of HEI MAKERS project in Iasi, Romania. The participants, HEI students, professors and companies representatives will learn about the project’s outputs and aims. Also, there will be some workshops about product development and prototyping and discussions about collaboration between universities and makerspaces. Are you interested? International summer school “Makers 4.0”
VGTU „LinkMenų fabrikas“ is hosting “HEI makers” international summer school “MAKERS 4.0”! The summer school is exclusively for students from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Riga Technical University and Politehnica University of Bucharest. Selected students (8 from each university) will receive scholarship to cover travel, accommodation and living cost in Vilnius. During the summer school, you will have the opportunity to discover the fundamentals of technological entrepreneurship and understand how ideas can be successfully developed into businesses. In addition, you will gain an insight into 3D printing processes and will be given the opportunity to design, model and produce your own product. We hope this programme will encourage you to learn more about entrepreneurship and 3D printing and be able to apply your new skills to your education and future careers. More information here.
Universities meet Makerspaces: challenges of joining efforts
Maker movement is gaining back its popularity since the major innovators like Albert Einstein or Steve Jobs were learning and discovering through their hands-on experiences in labs and garages. Higher education needs to embrace makers experience to stay attractive, inclusive and educating new generations of innovators. “HEI makers” final conference is inviting university lecturers, administrative staff, students to discuss how higher education can benefit joining the makers movement.
